Middle School

In the intermediate years, our program transitions to larger concepts and gives students’ autonomy in their learning. Students learn to be responsible citizens in the community and shift from learning to read to reading to learn. The focus becomes project and inquiry based allowing students to begin to learn how to manage their own academic success.

Intellectual Curiosity

By capitalizing on their natural curiosity, we encourage students to take risks in the name of learning. We also strive to normalize mistakes as an essential part of the learning process, fostering the resilience, confidence, and growth mindset that support both academic achievement and personal success. Building on a foundation of holistic development, we seek to equip students with a set of transferable skills that will serve them well in any high school or life environment.

Fostering Confidence & Resilience

The Middle School teaching team strives to ensure that every student feels safe and accepted wherever they may be in this journey. We support students' personal and social development through integrated, multidisciplinary learning, regular physical activity—including taking advantage of the rich learning opportunities in our surrounding neighbourhood—as well as discussions about sleep, nutrition, health, friendships, family relationships, and other essential life skills. While the school is affiliated with the Anglican Church of Canada, faith class and chapel services honor a variety of spiritual practices. Through joy, humour, and the development of trusting relationships, we nurture students as they grow into confident learners and positive members of the community.

With Gratitude
Christ Church Cathedral School acknowledges that for thousands of years the Coast Salish, Nuu-chah-nulth, and Kwakwaka’wakw peoples have walked gently on the unceded territories where we now live, work, worship, learn, and play. We seek a new relationship with the First Peoples here, one based in honour and respect, and we thank them for their hospitality.
