Junior Kindergarten Teacher

Cathedral School is seeking a passionate and caring Preschool / Junior Kindergarten Teacher to create a supportive, engaging, and nurturing learning environment for young children. The Preschool Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing age-appropriate educational activities, fostering emotional, social, and cognitive development, and building positive relationships with both children and their families. We are pleased to offer a full-time position in a supportive and engaging environment, with an immediate start date for the right candidate.

Educational Requirements

  • Early Childhood Education Certification, Elementary Education Teacher Certification, or a related field.

  • First Aid certification is an asset.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum and early childhood education standards.

  • Plan and organize daily activities that promote early learning in key areas such as literacy, numeracy, social skills, physical development, and creativity.

  • Foster a positive and stimulating learning environment through hands-on activities, creative play, and structured learning experiences.

  • Introduce basic concepts of literacy, numeracy, social studies, and science through interactive lessons and activities.
    Manage classroom behaviour using positive discipline strategies.

  • Observe and assess children’s progress, providing regular feedback to parents/guardians.

  • Communicate regularly with parents about their child's development and classroom activities.

  • Ensure compliance with licensing regulations and safety standards.

  • Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and administration to promote the overall development of children.

  • Maintain records of each child's activities, progress, and behavior.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with young children (preferably in a preschool setting).

  • Strong understanding of child development principles and age-appropriate teaching methods.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with young children.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.​
