Early Childhood Educators and Assistants

Christ Church Childcare Centres are accepting applications from qualified ECEs and ECEAs to join our team.

A full-time position is available.

Our childcare and Junior Kindergarten centres are warm, friendly, bright, and bustling with creativity.

The JKs (as they are affectionately known) are unique places for children to learn, grow and play. We believe it is important for children to know they are in a safe, supportive and nurturing environment.

All of our educators are certified Early Childhood Educators or Early Childhood Educator Assistants. Our educators work collaboratively as a team to encourage appropriate behaviours and lead by example for the children. We believe in open, courteous communication between educators, children and their families.

Position Summary

Early Childhood Educators ensure that the children, families, and staff are supported throughout the day. Educators will plan, implement and review developmentally appropriate activities, curriculum and practices. Educators will ensure the health and safety of all children in the environment are met daily. Educators will ensure that they follow and uphold The BC Child Care Licensing Rules, Regulations and Policies and Cathedral School Childcare and JK policies and procedures. All Staff will report to the Facility Manager.

 

Requirements

  • Current Early Childhood Education (ECE), Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) certification and License to Practice in BC

  • Two exceptional work-related references

  • A resume including a record of work, volunteer, and education history

  • Emergency Child Care First Aid Certified

  • The successful candidate must undergo a criminal record check for working with children and vulnerable adults.

  • Evidence that you have complied with the province’s immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work very well in team settings.

  • Ability to follow instructions and willingness to assume and carry out assigned tasks and to be accountable for results and actions, including quality of work.

  • Professional, reliable and have a positive work attitude.

 

Working Conditions

  • Professional, reliable and have a positive work attitude.

  • Ability to lift and move chairs, mats, etc. (up to 40 lbs/18.4 kg).

  • Ability to work positively in a busy and loud environment.

  • Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, occasionally run, crouch, bend frequently, and sit on the floor.

Wages and benefits of working for CCCJK*

  • $20.00-$23.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications

  • Eligible ECEs will receive the $4/hr Wage Enhancement provided by the BC Ministry of Childcare Services

  • 10 paid sick days a year

  • 12.5 paid vacation days per year

  • Two paid discretionary days per year

  • Extended health, medical and dental benefits (employers pays 80% of premiums)

  • 50% discount on childcare services

  • Paid week closure between Christmas and New Year’s Day

  • Paid professional development days

  • 5% RRSP matching program

*New employees are eligible for benefits after a successful 90-day probationary period.
