Mrs. Kennedy has been the Kindergarten teacher for the past nine years at Christ Church Cathedral School. She finds teaching Kindergarten an exciting and rewarding responsibility.
"I see my educational role as conveying a love of learning and discovery for my students. This is made easier in the nurturing and positive environment of our School, which has a wonderful sense of community, where all children are encouraged to reach their full potential." |

Mrs. Blue has been with the school for 8 years and has enjoyed working with wonderful, talented colleagues and great students at our school. She still says she feels like she has “won the lottery to be able to work at such a great school!” Currently, Mrs. Blue works as a Reading Specialist, PE Specialist and general classroom teacher for Grade 1! She is also the Assistant Head for the Junior School, supporting the Junior Kindergarten program through to the grade three class.
True to her energetic and creative teaching style, she believes education is an active and lifelong process. She strives to involve each student in a positive active learning atmosphere, developing his or her team skills as well as their individual leadership skills. Come by grade one and see how much fun they are having, learning together! |

The Grade 2 class is shared by Judy Hodges and Kristin Meissner.
Mrs. Hodges was born in Victoria and raised in Metchosin. She received her education degree at UBC and a Montessori Diploma in Toronto. She has 17 years experience teaching primary grades in Richmond, BC.
In her first year at Cathedral School, Mrs Hodges taught grade 1. She is now teaching grade 2. Her youngest son attends Christ Church Cathedral School. Mrs. Hodges particular love is art and the younger grades have all benefited from her expertise and enthusiasm for painting. In 2003 she coordinated the students work for a portrait exhibition sponsored by the Community Arts Council.
Kristin says she feels very fortunate to be a part of the Cathedral School staff and students, as it struck her immediately what a unique school this is.

The Grade 3 class is taught by Mr. Lurie. He has been with the school for seven years. Bringing the students hands-on experiences is a part of the job that he likes best.
When the students roll up their sleeves to get messy—making animal track casts, building spaghetti bridges, planting seeds—he knows that some powerful learning is going on.
In addition to a teaching degree, Mr. Lurie has a Bachelor of Arts, English and Bachelor of Applied Arts, Radio and Television. With this background in mind, he is interested in seeing his students develop as communicators and storytellers.
No surprise then that the foundation skills of writing and reading are integral to his curriculum. |

Jean Hollingworth will not be teaching Grade 4 this year. She will not be leaving us, but has long wanted to move into the field of early
childhood education.
Linda joins the staff at our Junior Kindergarten on

Mrs. Borzoni has been teaching at Christ Church Cathedral School since 1991. She has enjoyed teaching split classes with as many as four grades in the same room! She is now happy to be teaching the grade 5 class. She arranges the Chapel services, as well as working with the children at drama and speech arts.
"I am still learning something every day-and loving it! I love the curiosity, creativity and insight of the students and feel privileged to be teaching in our School. My interests outside the School include singing in the Cathedral Choirs, reading, birds, walking, gardening and my two cats!" |

After more than twenty-five years of teaching in various schools in British Columbia and Manitoba, Mr. Bird is thrilled to be part of the Cathedral School team. Specifically, he is very pleased to be teaching the Grade 6 class along with some Language Arts 7 and 8.
“My philosophy of education can readily be crystallized: if teachers challenge students and offer them the tools to succeed, they will often surprise both themselves and others with their amazing accomplishments.”

It is thought by many, including myself, that the number 8 is lucky. This school year, is certainly proving to be a lucky one for me!
After a very rewarding 12 year teaching career in Vancouver working with Middle School aged students on the regular English curriculum, as well as teaching French as a Second Language and Physical Education, I arrived in Victoria....Eight years ago I joined the CCCS team instructing a grade 2/3 class. Now, after teaching grades 5,6,and 7, I find myself working with the eldest students, the grade 8's.
My philosophy of education is a simple one; all children can and will learn if they feel connected to their learning environment, especially their teachers. My job is to make learning connections with all students, help them to get organized, and most importantly, encourage students to be the best they can be!
This is my third year acting as Assistant Head of the upper and Middle School grades and I thoroughly enjoy this responsibility. CCCS is a small, special school which provides a nurturing education to all students. The staff know the students and the students know the staff. I am proud to be a member of this learning community.

"I have been teaching art to children in my home for nine years now, and began at Cathedral School when my daughter came into grade 4. For thirteen years I worked in public galleries, for nine of those years in the Victoria Art Gallery, initiating programs such as The Children's festival, The Studio, and 'Gallery-in-The Schools'. When Cathedral School was first renovated I seized the opportunity offered by a new, empty wall to make the 'Seven Days of Creation' wall-hanging with all the students in the School. Recently I have been doing art with grades 4 through 8 in a great new art room." |

Mme Clarke is back this year as the French specialist. She will be teaching all classes in the school from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8.
I can honestly say that I have my dream job! Why?
- The students at Christ Church Cathedral School are wonderful to work with!
- I spend my school days teaching and learning about French language and culture which is a personal passion of mine and has been for many years.
- We use the AIM program for instruction (Accelerated Integrated Method). This is the most effective tool for teaching languages at the elementary and middle school levels that I have seen. I am excited to be using this method and learning more about its potential.
