This section of the website contains an outline of our plans for this school year and it will be updated as more information becomes available. The outline of the main term dates is in the calendar section of the website.

This year we have made our website even better, more up to date and more informative for the public and the School community. Please review it (www.cathedralschool.ca) and let us know if you have any suggestions for improvements or changes which might make it more effective.

Enrollment

In our first Strategic Plan, published in the spring of 2002 we set out to double the size of the School in five years. The 2006/07 year our enrollment stands at 153 and we are estimating between 160 and 165 students next year. The classes at the elementary and intermediate level are almost all full, i.e. from Kindergarten to Grade 5. This accounts for approximately 115 students. In 2001—02 we had 84 students in the whole School! Grade 6, 7 and 8 will account for the remaining 45--50 students.

The number of students at Cathedral School continues to rise and we are very pleased to now have a grade 8 class, of 18 students.

Christ Church Cathedral School has opened this September 2008 with the highest enrolment we have ever had. Approximately 160 children are now attending the School and we are all set for a great year. All sorts of wonderful activities are planned for the year.

Facilities and Equipment

Summer 2006, we painted the gym. That doesn't sound like a momentous event but it was wonderful to get rid of the old brown walls and change them to a refreshing light blue.

Summer 2006 also saw the re-roofing of the entire Memorial Hall. This is not immediately visible but is a very important part of the seismic up-grading of the building.

Thanks to our generous donors we have expanded our Library and you will be able to purchase many more books. We have already set up a new circulation desk, new computers and new shelving. New books are arriving on a regular basis and we are very pleased to have Miss Sabrina Jackson as our Librarian.

“Kindle The Spirit of Learning” Campaign

The intensive phase of the Campaign is complete as of the end of March 2005. However, we will continue the Campaign for the next two years in order to reach our target of $1,250,000. The first phase has been very successful and we will keep you all posted as we approach (and perhaps exceed!) our targeted amount.

Student Life

We look forward to developing the Student Council, as well as the House System. Our Middle School students will have many leadership opportunities. Also we will be expanding the community service opportunities for the children in concert with Mt Edward’s Court. We also look forward to strengthening our ties with the Cathedral parish and with the diocese.

Curriculum

Cathedral School has great opportunities for the children, a wonderful and dedicated group of teachers and staff, and a School which is still “Going Places”.
