Welcome to Christ Church Cathedral School

By coming to our web site it is as if you are walking through the doors of our School. I hope your visit is informative and enjoyable. There's a lot to see and read about and I hope that by the time you leave you will come away with the same feeling that we who work here enjoy each day: a sense of the vitality of our students, of the dedication of our teachers and of that indefinable 'something' which makes us what we are.

Why do parents choose to send their children to our School? As you can imagine I have asked them that very question and I have received a variety of answers. The common threads that run through them all are: a strong sense of community, an appreciation for the Christian values of the School, small classes, excellent teachers, an approachable and communicative staff, and affordability. And as we change and grow and improve we will stay the same: in other words, those things will not change, because they make us what we are.

And what are we? 'We are the best School in Victoria'; at least that's what our students, our parents and our teachers think. We are Victoria's Anglican elementary and middle School and 'We're Going Places'! As our Strategic Plan, published in the Spring of 2002 indicates, we are now beginning to "...embrace a future full of promise." Already we are playing an ever-larger part in the educational life of Victoria. In the summer of 2002 we took a giant step towards fulfilling the objectives of our Strategic Plan. With the help of Christ Church Cathedral Parish and Cathedral Buildings Ltd we entirely remodeled the interior of the wonderful heritage building that houses our School. Seismic and fire safety upgrades made the building much safer for all who work and learn here, and our enrollment increased by 20% in September of 2003 and by a further 20% in September 2004.

The second phase of our renovations took place in the summer of 2004 and provided us with three new classrooms and much needed space for our staff room and our new Grade 8 class. In 2005 we set up our new writing centre with computers donated by Coast Capital Savings and in 2006, thanks to the generosity of our donors we have been able to make major improvements to our Library. Our enrollment at the beginning of the 2006--07 school year stands at 154.

The number of students at Cathedral School continues to rise and we are very pleased to have a grade 8 class for the 2007/08 school year, of 18 students, and our middle school is being firmly established. We have recently had a large number of enquiries for both grade 3 and grade 5 which are the two grades which are now full!

We are excited as we look to the future, and the students and their parents, by spreading the word about our School, have ensured that our places are filling up and the waiting lists are growing.

Once again, enjoy your virtual visit to our School and we look forward to seeing you in person. You are welcome to turn your virtual visit into a real visit by calling us at any time. It would be a pleasure to show you round.
